Porto has done it again – after being elected the Best City Destination in Europe in 2022, the city was once again recognized by the World Travel Awards as Europe’s Leading City Break Destination 2023.
Heritage, history, beauty, monuments, gastronomy, and wines are only a few reasons why the city frequently receives international nominations and recognitions.
Catarina Santos Cunha, Porto’s Tourism and Internationalization councilor stated that the commitment for Porto to continue to assert itself as a welcoming city extends to everyone and, specifically, to tourist demand. With that in mind, the city launched a Tourist’s Manifest to involve and raise awareness among tourists about the good practices to adopt during their visits to the city.
The World Travel Awards are an initiative that recognizes and rewards excellence in travel and tourism based on voting by travel industry professionals, media, and consumers.
In 2022, the World Travel Awards recognized Porto as the Best City Destination in Europe and, in the global competition, the Best City Destination in the World. The city has already been elected Europe’s Leading City Break Destination in the 2020 WTA edition.
