If you are looking to buy a property in Portugal and want to request a bank loan, you might have heard about credit intermediaries.
What’s their role? We’ll explain.
The Credit Intermediary isn’t a bank. It is a natural or legal person, duly authorized and registered with the Bank of Portugal (BdP), that can mediate the financing process between the client and the bank.
They are not authorized to concede loans, but they can present or propose credit contracts to consumers and help them during the financing process.
Credit Intermediaries have several partnerships with local banks, which means that they can gather several proposals tailored to the customers’ needs and secure beneficial conditions.
This is one of the main advantages of working with a credit intermediary, you can save time and money and find the best financing solution without any hassle.
Be aware that this is a free service – Credit Intermediaries cannot charge you any money for the advisory service, you may only have to pay some fees directly to the bank.
