The world also recognizes what Portugal has to offer, as proven in last year’s World Travel Awards, where we won in 12 world categories.
One of the highlights was the victory of Azores as the “World’s Best Adventure Destination”. Also, Madeira renewed its victory for the 9th time as the “World’s Best Island Destination”, and Braga was elected the “World’s Best Emerging Destination”.
Regarding tourism activities, Passadiços do Paiva won in the category of “Best Adventure Tourism Attraction”.
Regarding the award given to Madeira, the regional secretary of Tourism and Culture and president of the Madeira Promotion Association, Eduardo Jesus, highlighted that “it is the consolidation of recognition regarding the work that has been developed by the entire sector to position the region as a unique destination, which, throughout the 12 months of the year, captivates visitors from all over the world, due to its unique characteristics in terms of nature, culture, experiences, and identity”.
Considered the “Oscars” of tourism, the World Travel Awards have been awarded by professionals in the sector on a global scale since 1993, distinguishing the work carried out in the tourism industry to stimulate the competitiveness and quality of tourism.
